There were several things that the G1 offered, that other phones didn't. Some of my favorite attributes about the T-Mobile G1 are:
• Email Optimization
• Barcode Scanner
• The Browser
• Text Messaging
• Android Market
First and Foremost I love the email optimization on this phone. It's like nothing I've ever experienced. You are able to connect all of your personal emails to your phone, so they can all be checked under one account. It's as easy as clicking which account you want to access. It's honestly like having a computer in your hand. Reading, responding to emails is very easy as well.

The one thing that the G1 offers that no other phone on the market does is its 'compare everywhere' software application. This is one of the most state of the art features on any phone on the market today. The T-mobile G1 uses infrared technology to scan barcodes at stores, and then proceeds to show you where on the internet and other store locations the item is cheaper. This is a great way to save money, you would be surprised at how much cheaper some of the stuff we buy is.
The Web browser on the G1 is one of the best I've seen. It feels like you are sitting at your computer using a real internet browser. The one thing that the G1 browser offers is the ability to switch windows, this way you can have multiple windows up at a time and access them easily. The best part about the browser is that it works straight off google, so its load time is very fast. The google search has a voice enabled search feature, which is really cool, and efficient.
The text messaging contends so well with other texting phones. The major difference in the G1's text service is that it resembles AIM. When you receive a text you have a prompt to respond, but the text that was written to you is still there. It just creates a series of conversations, so you don't have to cycle back to remember what someone said to you.
The Android Market was my favorite part of this phone, and one of the biggest reasons I bought it. All of the applications were free and shareware. They were all developed by private people, instead of big corporations. All of the applications are categorized neatly, by what you're looking for. You can search for applications that you're looking for, to save time browsing all of them. After you install the applications, if you don't like one you can uninstall them easily, even easier then when you installed them.

There are a few things I really dislike about the G1 phone:
• Battery Life
• Android Market
• Random Restarts
• Voice Search
The battery life on the T-Mobile G1 is decent. If you use your phone a lot the battery goes down fast. I use my phone almost all day, and it has to be fully charged by the next morning or it will die. However, when it goes down to the red zone, it has enough battery conserved for more than an hour.

The Android Market, as I discussed above is one of my favorite aspects of the G1. The reason it's on my negative list is recent. Some of the free software has to now be purchased. There are still some free applications, but for the most part if you want anything good you're going to spend up to $15.00. This just changed recently, and has changed my outlook on the phone all together.
The G1 sometimes restarts its self. I don't understand why, but I'll be in the middle of a phone call and my phone will restart. It could be just my phone, or it could be a nationwide dilemma. Be cautious of this.
The Voice Search that google has made for easier searches, and more efficient results is great, kind of. It doesn't pick up words accurately no matter how clear you speak into the microphone. If it doesn't understand anything you say, it will just search for something random. I prefer just typing my searches in for absolute accuracy.
Overall I'm happy with my purchase of the G1. The good aspects outweigh the negative ones. It's one of the most unique phones that I've ever owned, and I'll continue using it, until something better comes along. I really doubt that anyone will achieve the greatness Google has achieved with making the G1.
